New SG Interview With Adan Jodorowsky: Why Adanowsky Is Killing Ada

[Adan Jodorowsky as the Young Fenix in Santa Sangre]

Adan Jodorowsky’s life story reads like a plot from one of his father’s surrealist masterpieces. The son of Chilean filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky and Mexican actress Valerie Trumblay, Adan was born in France and raised in an exceedingly Bohemian household, where standing on the table and peeing in the soup was considered a legitimate form of expression rather than an act worthy of being sent to your room.

At the tender age of ten, he won the prestigious Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor for his portrayal of the Young Fenix in his father’s 1989 psychedelic horror epic, Santa Sangre. Adan continued on a cinematic path, with a string of roles in front of and behind the camera, while developing a career in parallel as a singer, songwriter, and musician.

Having achieved rock star status in his native France and throughout South America, Adan has recorded his first album in English, which was released in the United States on April 1st. The record, entitled ADA, is a therapeutic endeavor and a homage to a ghost that he finally hopes to lay to rest when the album runs its course.

SuicideGirls recently spoke via Skype to Adan, who was calling in from his home studio in Paris. Surrounded by beloved items from his childhood, such as a mariachi doll and a 4-track tape recorder bought for him by his mother, Adan spoke to us about his past and future from his preferred place –– the present.

Red, White and Femme: Thriving in 2014, Clean and Sober

With a new year, comes a new chance to build a life with your sobriety as the cornerstone. The holidays – and the challenges they brought – are behind you, and this month of January is the perfect time to think about all that you are grateful for, and all that you hope to achieve in 2014. Is it attending more meetings? Getting a sponsor? A sponsee? Do you hope to travel or reconnect with old friends, but fear that the change might be a trigger to use? I reached out to DeAnna Jordan, the clinical director at New Method Wellness (http://www.newmethodwellness.com) rehabilitation center for expert advice. Whatever you choose to do to walk your walk and stay strong, here are some tips to help you along your path. Be well!

Do not give into peer pressure
Your sobriety comes first. If there are functions that make you uncomfortable, say no. Don’t put yourself in harm’s way just to put others at ease.

Surround yourself with positive influences
If you surround yourself with heavy drinkers and users, then your hopes of remaining sober are in serious jeopardy. Surround yourself around people that are responsible and supportive of your sobriety decision.

Do not put yourself near known triggers
If you know the tangible triggers that make you want to use drugs or alcohol, then steer clear of them and place yourself in situations that put you at ease and make you secure and comfortable.

Be social – but be careful
Keeping track of how long you have been at a party can sometimes be key. Staying too long can likely expose an individual to triggers as the party progresses later into the night. Two hours is usually a good maximum to have in mind.

Do practice self-care
Go to meetings, make calls, take time out for yourself, eat well, and sleep well. Take everything a day at a time and make sure that you are keeping track of your needs.

About Steve Prue

Steve Prue is a simple man – he likes coffee, big hair and instant film. Self-taught and hella-amusing, he manages to avoid a day job and gets to work with interesting people every day. Steve’s work can be seen in magazines such as Penthouse, Playboy, ZINK!, Auxiliary, Rebel Ink, Urban Ink, Skin&Ink, Inked, Inked Girls, Village Voice, Time Out NYC, CLUB, FOX, Velvet and other magazines in that “special” rack behind the counter at 7-11, as well as on SuicideGirls.com.

Having attended 15 schools by the time he graduated college (North Carolina State – Go Wolfpack!), Steve has a bit of a traveling jones and can be found splitting his time between Boston (wife & cats), Brooklyn (rent controlled apartment & his Ducati) and Los Angeles (lots of naked tattooed women).

Current projects involve working on a book of dirty Polaroids, finding the perfect cup of diner coffee, telling everyone how AWESOME it was to work with a circus elephant, and as usual, continuing to avoid working a day job.

Personal Quote: “The bigger the hair, the closer to God.”

You can see more of his work here at Teamrockstarimages.com and TeamrockstarNSFW.com, and follow him @tmronin.

About Tita Suicide

Tita does a lot of things. Getting naked on the Internet is just one of them. The self described “professional traveler, cupcake galavanter, fitness fan, and pantless wonder” clearly has varied interests, which far from being at odds, are in fact the very glue that holds her together.

A long time professional athlete, Tita’s lifestyle is a balance of discipline, and complete madness. From photo shoots, to producing video and viral content, Tita works in front of, and behind the cameras and computers, as a member of Team Rockstar with Steve Prue. She also helps to run events for SuicideGirls, and other alternative brands, mentors models and athletes, and runs a successful blog over at www.cupcakedujour.ca

Tita currently resides in Vancouver, British Columbia, but this pint sized ball of fury can often be found at conventions throughout the United States, and Canada. You can follow along with her adventures via social media, where she goes by “Cupcakedujour” for obvious reasons.

Tita’s plans for the future include continuing to contribute online and print content to media outlets, lifestyle and fitness brands, and to find a puppy partner in crime for her chihuahua Zapato.

But first, she’s off to Ink N Iron where she will assist Steve as they shoot content for Rebel Ink, Urban Ink, and various other publications. Tita will also stop in to say hello to her favourite SuicideGirls, work with The Blonde Locks, and shoot with notable photographers and artists based in LA. As usual it will be a whirlwind trip, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.

You can see more of Tita on SuicideGirls and at cupcakedujour.ca. You can also get social with her on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Tumblr.

This week Nahp tells us why she’s into Health & Fitness.

Members: 1,906 / Comments: 10,150

WHY DO YOU LOVE IT?: I love it because since last year I’ve been working really hard to get a healthy lifestyle. I started to eat really good and have been exercising, and since January of this year I’ve started to workout really hard to achieve my goal. In this specific group, I find a lot of advice and tips on healthy food and workouts that are very helpful to me at this time of my life. It’s like a bible!

DISCUSSION TIP: It’s a place to discuss healthy lifestyles. Share experiences, ask questions and discuss anything related to health and fitness.

MOST HEATED DISCUSSION THREAD: I there’s not a heated discussion thread, but a thread that is really loved for many people is “Anyone up for a challenge?” A lot of people post there every day so you can see how people approach their goals, and how the other members encourage them to achieve them. It’s amazing!

BEST RANDOM QUOTE: “’I wanna be this and I wanna be that’ – WELL THEN GRAB FUCKING NUTS AND BE IT!!”

WHO’S WELCOME TO JOIN?: Every single person who is interested in achieving their physical and mental goals and/or are interested in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

_About Bradley Suicide

Raised to be the epitome of a California Girl, Bradley Suicide has the blonde beach girl thing on lock. She grew up in the town of Sonoma in the heart of California wine country, but just wasn’t cut out for small town life. She got the tattoo and party itch at a young age and hasn’t looked back since.

Upon graduating from culinary school with a degree in Baking and Pastry Bradley moved to Huntington Beach and then, most recently to Las Vegas where she keeps the party going, double fisting drinks and sending ridiculous tweets – all while covered in glitter.

Highlights of Bradley’s days, on the rare occasion that she is not working, include skateboarding, relaxing by the pool (drink in hand), and creeping on people’s Twitter and Instagram accounts. She loves the beach, cheap wine, good beer, spicy food, boys with accents and tattoos, and baseball season.

Bradley has modeled for SuicideGirls.com since 2010, has been featured in Inked Magazine, appears in music videos, and is the writer of the Confessions of A Reluctant Dater column as featured on SuicideGirls.com.

For more info find Bradley on SuicideGirls and follow/friend her on Twitter and Facebook.

_About Chris Saint

English born and raised, Chris Saint restarted his piercing career by relocating to Los Angeles in 2007. Working in the heart of Hollywood, Chris focused himself on precision, creativity and presentation, and before long had succeeded in building a solid reputation within the piercing community.

To date Chris’ work, including his surface anchor arrangements, can be seen in publications worldwide, on television networks including MTV, FUSE, OXYGEN, E!, and in music videos by artists such as From First Till Last, Angels & Airwaves & Marilyn Manson.

Chris has been a member of SuicideGirls since 2007, and is now an extremely proud member of the Club Tattoo, Las Vegas Team.

For more info visit Chris’ Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.

_About The Fabulous Miss Wendy

After touring with Slash, Hollywood’s punk-inspired rock princess The Fabulous Miss Wendy is co-headlining the national Femme Fest 2013 tour with Hear Kitty Kitty and openers The Theodora Kelly Project and Mahi Gato. Wendy is taking to the highways in support of her new album No One Can Stop Me!” (Not Dead Yet Records), produced by the legendary Kim Fowley (The Runaways).

No One Can Stop Me! is a street-level battle cry that resonates from the underbelly of Hollywood. The opening title track of the album speaks to Wendy’s unbeatable determination and passion while “Miami” is the true story of sultry adventures and steamy parties under the hot Florida sun. Her song “Silicon Assassin” is also the theme song for the new sci-fi web series by the same name and starring Richard Hatch (Battlestar Galactica).

In true DIY style, Wendy initially turned to Kickstarter to complete the funding for her album. She got it from 112 backers and then hit the studio with producer Kim Fowley who, among many other accomplishments, discovered The Runaways.

Wendy started her music career with only $20, but she was eventually nominated for LOGO’s “Ultimate Sexiest Videos” weekly contest alongside videos by the likes of Lady Gaga. Wendy did two tours of duty to play for American troops in Iraq before going on to tour with Slash.

For more info visit Wendy’s website, Facebook and Twitter.

SuicideGirls Group Therapy: Aeta On Hooping

A column which highlights Suicide Girls and their fave groups.

[Aeta Suicide in Ready Steady Hoop]

This week Aeta tells us why she loves Hooping.

Members: 179 / Comments: 489

WHY DO YOU LOVE IT?: I love to hoop. That’s my way to relax and get in a good mood. As I’m dancing tribal fusion, I’m always trying to add something new to my dance. I don’t like to just use someone else’s ideas.

DISCUSSION TIP: I’d love to see more good tutorial links, performance links and of course music links. I know everything’s on Hoopcity, which is a great site, but I want it on the SG group too.

MOST HEATED DISCUSSION THREAD: At this moment “Hooping challenge–share pics and videos!” is the busiest thread.

BEST RANDOM QUOTE: “Months later, still always bruised. haha.” – Vivid Suicide, from an Ask a Hooper thread.

Love you Vivid! Somebody even said that hoopers have to love their bruises.

WHO’S WELCOME TO JOIN?: Anyone who is interested in hooping, dance, fitness, etc., or who just wants to check out pictures of hoopers and watch videos.
